250 years old church in Kolkata – St. John’s Church

During the construction of the St. John’s Church of Kolkata a lumsum amount of 30000 rupees was raised from the public lottery system and the construction of the church began in the year 1784. It was open to the public in 1787. The land in which the church is present today is actually an old burial ground that was unused since 1767, but it had graves of the founders of kolkata job Charnok and his family.
