RVNL to use a non-AC rake for test runs at
the Joka-Esplanade Metro’s phase 1 trials
“The non-AC rakes have been phased out
and only AC rakes are used for operations along the Kavi Subhas-Dakshineswar
line. One such non-AC rake was selected from the Noapara carshed and prepared
for test runs for the Joka-Esplanade Metro’s Phase 1 trials,” a Metro
Railway official said.
According to Metro authorities, the rake shouldn’t leave the Joka facility for another fortnight.
“Once assembled, it will undergo test runs inside the depot. When
considered fit for trials, it will be mounted on the tracks,” An RVNL
representative remarked.
But because the
signals have not yet been installed in the Joka-Taratala portion, this testing
will differ from those done on the city’s new Metro lines, the East-West
and the Dakshineswar Metro.
